Further information
Versailles has long been the symbol of the French monarchy.Louis XIV, wishing to create a place of splendor and celebration to impress his courtiers, launched major works from 1668, greatly expanding the former hunting lodge built by his father, Louis XIII.
The successors of the Sun King continued to embellish the palace, until the French Revolution emptied it of most of its artworks and furniture.By the will of the Bourbon kings, Versailles was the political and administrative capital of the kingdom from 1682 to 1789, and a source of wonder for the rest of Europe.
This tour allows families to discover the State Apartments, the Royal Chapel, and the famous Hall of Mirrors, while following the daily rhythm of the king’s life, shaped by the strict court etiquette Louis XIV imposed to keep the nobility under control.
This visit is suitable for children aged 7 and up.
